A Message from the Club President

Daybreak Members:

It is an honor to serve as your president this year.  Our club is strong and has been blessed with many great successes that our board is excited to build on.

1. Our Duck Race is rapidly becoming one of the premier fundraisers in Eastern Iowa.  With the help of our partners, we look to grow this into an even greater event.  This year, the public awareness has grown dramatically and we are excited about our prospects for next year.
   
   
2. Our support of Polk Elementary School has never been greater.  Through our financial help and programs like Lunch Buddies, Math Buddies, Boy Scouts, and Junior Achievement we are having a positive impact on so many young lives.  Polk Elementary School will remain our primary focus.
   
   
3. Our sponsorship of three outbound and one inbound foreign exchange students makes this our strongest year yet in the youth exchange program at Rotary.  With the completion of the Lebanon project, we are looking to initiate a new international project with money budgeted to send several Daybreakers on international Rotary Projects.  I hope all of you will consider being involved in an international project.
   
   
4. Our vocational service has continued to be strong with great candidates for our Service Above Self awards and Lunch with Dave Evans.
   
   
5. Our Legacy for Learning Scholarship Fund is growing and we are continuing to add scholarship participants.  With the first awards to be presented in 2014, the Legacy project must remain a focus for our club.
   
   

With all of these strong programs I feel we are at a point to grow our membership.  I would like us to focus this year on the growth of our membership.  We must have engaged members and fresh energy of new members to keep our club moving forward.

I am excited about this year and look forward to being a part of this Daybreak organization.
